FOOD ANIMAL CONCERNS TRUST

CHICAGO, Illinois, 60659-3314 United States

Mission Statement

Food Animal Concerns Trust (FACT) promotes the safe and humane production of meat, milk, and eggs. FACT envisions that all food-producing animals will be raised in a healthy and humane manner so that everyone will have access to safe and humanely-produced food.

About This Cause

Food Animal Concerns Trust (FACT) creates safe and humane food options by supporting humane farmers in communities across the nation, while advocating against antibiotic overuse and harmful drugs in farm animals. Our Humane Farming Program invests in family farmers seeking to raise their animals humanely by providing them with grants, scholarships, and webinars. Since 2012, FACT has cumulatively awarded 201 grants totaling over $460,000 to family farmers across 37 states, directly impacting more than 116,000 animals. Our Food Safety Program advocates for stronger corporate and federal policies that eliminate veterinary drugs known to be harmful to consumers along with the overuse of antibiotics on farms. FACT has made significant progress in helping to persuade major fast food chains to commit to serving meat produced with fewer antibiotics. FACT also succeeded in getting the FDA to prohibit arsenic based veterinary drugs, and is working to convince the FDA to eliminate the known carcinogen carbadox from the pork supply. FACT is a nationwide, 501c3 nonprofit, headquartered in Chicago, with nearly 35 years of experience and has a Platinum Seal of Transparency from Guidestar.
