Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Humanitarian Service Project to alleviate the pain and suffering that poverty brings to seniors and children in DuPage and Kane Counties, Illinois, without distinction of gender, race, creed, caste, or color.

About This Cause

HSP operates three programs to fulfill its mission of alleviating the burdens of poverty. One serves children and through them, families (Children’s Project); one serves seniors alone (Senior Citizen Project); and the last serves them all (Christmas Offering). Senior Citizen Project: Delivering 100 pounds of fresh, wholesome and nutritious food every month along with wish list items and Secret Pal gifts to DuPage and Kane Counties’ needy elderly. Children’s Project: Creating wonderful memories for the impoverished children of DuPage and Kane Counties by providing them with an unforgettable 20-25 pound birthday package. When school is out for the summer, the Children's Project provides poverty-level families with substantial food packages each month, ensuring good nutrition for children who receive free or reduced-cost meals during the school year. The Project also empowers the youngest local poor throughout DuPage and Kane Counties with the school supplies needed to survive and thrive in the classroom. Christmas Offering: Providing, at least, 3 weeks worth of nutritious food and brightly wrapped Christmas gifts to local low-income families during the holidays.
