TreeHouse is on a mission to end hopelessness among teens.
About This Cause
TreeHouse has been serving teens since 1979, helping them build relationships and resiliency rooted in living hope. We’re based in Minnesota, but have sites across the country. Each of our sites host programs twice a week to give teens a safe space to find support and belonging. Through mentorships, retreats, and other off-site activities, teens have the opportunity to build even deeper relationships with peers and caring adults. TreeHouse’s mission is to end hopelessness among teens. Our goals for every teen who comes to TreeHouse are to: 1) Establish healthy internal beliefs and skills (form healthy relationships with peers and mentors, build coping skills to navigate obstacles in life, move toward a stronger relationship with a loving God, and discover personal value and purpose); and 2) Display positive external behaviors and attitudes (graduate high school, engage in an educational or career path after high school, decrease negative mental health symptoms, and develop hope for their future). TreeHouse wants every teen to believe they are lovable, capable & worthwhile; loved without strings & never alone; and have a future. TreeHouse creates a safe space for teens to belong, and our programs are built on proven models of effectiveness. TreeHouse is grace-based, first and foremost, but also holds consistent rules and shared practices that give teens something to count on. Programs include: •Support Group – One night a week, TreeHouse creates a safe space for teens to talk about what's really going on in their lives. Through Support Group, teens get to practice vulnerability and receive support from peers and adult leaders. •Connect – Teens gather a second time to intentionally learn more about our God-given purpose. These times are designed to help teens develop the spiritual and personal life skills needed to grow into healthy young adults. •Mentoring – When a teen joins TreeHouse, they have the opportunity to get connected with an adult mentor. Through this teens get dedicated on-on-one time with a safe, caring adult who serves as consistent presence and a voice of love in their life. •Next – Personalized coaching is offered to help teens create an educational or vocational track for their future. This includes college application assistance, ACT/SAT prep, vocational discernment, and interview prep. Additional offerings: •Growth Groups - Throughout the year, small groups of teens and staff focus on customized topic areas like anger, self-harm, leadership, and forgiveness - creating a space for discussion and learning. •Trips & Activities - TreeHouse provides opportunities for teens to have fun, learn about themselves, and connect with God in a deeper way. This includes sporting events, retreats, service projects, and social activities. TreeHouse's growth vision includes: learn more, tell more, train more and partner more!
