Mission Statement
CRC’s mission is to be unwavering in breaking down barriers and building bridges to honor each individual’s voice and their right to equity by creating spaces for transforming conflict into opportunity and harms into healing. We commit to being proactive in opposing racism and promoting racial equity through staff, Board, and volunteer study and self-examination, ongoing scrutiny of organizational practices and programs, and speaking out in our spheres of influence in the community. We commit to promoting equity for all LGBTQ+, immigrants, and other individuals from justice-impacted communities. We commit to creating innovative and sustainable programs in partnership with the communities we serve. It is essential that CRC staff, Board, volunteers, and associated practitioners reflect the perspectives and experiences of CRC constituencies. We commit to approaching all programs and processes through a restorative mindset and inclusive practices, that reestablish or create health, strength, consciousness, and increased capacity for wellness and connectedness. We celebrate the humanity of each individual and access the wisdom of the collective via communication that promotes nonjudgment, empathy, and deep listening.
About This Cause
Conflict Resolution Center is a Community Dispute Resolution Mediation Program. Mediation services are provided at low or no cost to community members in Minneapolis metro area, St. Cloud, Duluth and their surrounding areas. In mediation, parties are able to speak about their concerns, address their needs and come up with solutions that they feel are equitable. Mediation services are provided in a variety of areas including in our communities, Court systems and schools. Youth and Restorative Services Program: CRC's programs help at-risk students achieve academic success and help prepare them to lead self-sufficient and productive adult lives. CRC provides mediation and peacekeeping and conflict resolution education circles for students. In schools, mediation addresses the disproportionate impact of school suspensions and expulsions on students of color. Mediation processes model critical life skills in communication, leadership and conflict resolution. CRC's goal is to aid schools in the use of conflict resolution and restorative justice as alternatives to and in prevention of exclusionary school discipline processes, thereby improving the chances that students will succeed academically, graduate, and steer away from violent or criminal behavior. School leadership and community building circles are an alternative process of communication, based on traditional discussion and healing practices throughout the world. Circles bring people together in a way that creates trust, respect, goodwill, belonging, generosity, mutuality and reciprocity. CRC conducts Restorative Justice Conferences where victims and first-time non-violent juvenile offenders discuss the harm that was caused and develop a plan for repairing that harm. Mediation Training Program: CRC also provides educational workshops and training sessions on conflict resolution and mediation to individuals and organizations.
