IRVING PARK COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY

CHICAGO, Illinois, 60618 United States

Mission Statement

We feed the hungry in our community through caring, consistent service and an equitable distribution of Pantry resources to all clients. Together we are neighbors helping neighbors.

About This Cause

In the 1970s, Leila Duncan responded to requests for food by neighbors, which lead to providing USDA food to those in need. In 1984, the Pantry was formalized as a coalition with several churches working together. The Irving Park Community Food Panty was formally incorporated as an Illinois not-for-profit in 1987. Our work depends on volunteers. The Pantry is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors that employs the Executive Director and a Client Resources Coordinator. The volunteer staff of more than 90 people assists with all phases of our operation.
