Mission Statement
Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health, wellness, and fitness of communities, thousands of people at a time.
About This Cause
Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln works with everyone in our community live longer, healthier lives, providing resources and programming that supports family, child, and senior health. Partnering with nonprofits across the community, we also work to improve health equity through coordinated health improvement projects that address significant disparities in health outcomes within Lincoln’s minority communities and low-income neighborhoods, through nutrition, physical activity, and aligning healthcare providers and community outreach efforts to connect patients with health resources. We provide and/or support programs that: (1) improve infant and maternal health and nutrition by supporting breastfeeding and access to pre- and postnatal care. (2) improve the health of schoolchildren and their families through nutrition education and fitness programs (3) create better patient outcomes by increasing cancer screening and vaccination rates, improving chronic disease management, and promoting pro-active patient outreach and preventative care. During public health crises like the COVID 19 pandemic, we help to protect community health by providing science and evidence-based information. (4) improve workplace wellness by supporting healthy food and beverage policies. (5) take health and wellness resources out to people of all ages in neighborhoods where they are most needed through our free annual outreach event, Streets Alive! The event centers around a Title I school and moves to a new neighborhood every two years. University Place, one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city, is the host for 2022-2023. (6) As part of the Streets Alive!, we work with the host neighborhood to improve neighborhood health, safety, and vitality through our Street Alive! Community Development Project. The 2022-2023 project will provide a free outdoor fitness facility (a FitLot) and free fitness classes in UPCO Park, a neighborhood hub, designed for all ages and abilities, including those with disabilities."
