Mission Statement
Chapter One (formerly Innovations for Learning/TutorMate), provides 1:1 reading support at the time students need it most: kindergarten, first, and second grade. Chapter One delivers a K-3 high impact early literacy tutoring model. Our Tier 1 evidence for ESSA rating proves strong impact with 70% of the participating students reaching end of year grade level reading benchmarks.
About This Cause
Chapter One (formerly Innovations for Learning), a global education nonprofit provides a research-based ESSA Tier I approved high impact tutoring model for significantly improving student early literacy. Chapter One's high impact tutoring helps children develop core phonics, word attack, and fluency skills ensuring they have a strong literacy foundation. Our staff of tutors currently deliver 1:1 instruction to more than 45,000 students in 23 districts nationwide, making us one of the largest high impact tutoring programs focused on K-2 reading. Our program uniquely leverages technology to manage, track, and report student progress allowing our tutors to fully differentiate instruction and meet each child where they are and teach what they are ready to learn next. This also enables students to learn at their own optimal rate for success.
