Mission Statement

To acquire and distribute resources to support student well-being and promote innovative learning opportunities for the students and staff of Maine Township High School District 207 that support the district’s Vision of Learning.

About This Cause

Our goals are to provide resources to: 1) Promote student development through educational enrichment activities and grants for students to pursue additional educational and career opportunities 2) Encourage excellence through creative “best practice” teaching ideas and programs and by supporting professional growth for all staff 3) Enhance students’ well-being and ability to learn through programs that support their physical and emotional health 4) Foster school and community partnerships by facilitating cooperative ventures among the Foundation, community groups, and the school district. Grants: To achieve these goals, the Foundation provides grants for creative and challenging enrichment activities, staff development of innovative instructional practices to enhance student learning, student well-being initiatives, and cooperative ventures among learning communities. School-Based Health Center (SBHC): MTHS Foundation is proud to be a primary sponsor of the Maine Township School-Based Health Center. The goal of the SBHC is to improve the physical and emotional health of all students attending Maine Township High Schools. The SBHC is a partnership between District 207 and Advocate Medical Group, in affiliation with Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. Peer Tutoring: All three Maine Township high schools offer peer tutoring resources to their students. Historically, Maine East and Maine West have used the COACH program, which is available to all students, at all levels, in all subjects. Maine South provides an innovative online peer tutoring platform designed by students in response to COVID 19 restrictions. While peer tutoring looks different at each school, these programs form important connections between students working toward a common goal. MTHS Foundation has supported the work of the peer tutoring programs since 1999 and continues to do so today by awarding annual scholarships to graduating senior tutors at each school and granting funds toward student tutor training and supplies. Business, education and community leaders make up a volunteer-based Board of Trustees that governs the Foundation.
