Mission Statement
The Leslie Shankman School Corporation (LSSC) is an Illinois not for profit corporation that owns and operates two specialty schools—Hyde Park Day School and The Sonia Shankman Orthogenic School. Its purpose is to provide back office support to these schools in the form of finance and accounting, payroll, legal, HR, benefits administration, IT infrastructure, and governance. In doing so, the LSSC allows these schools to better focus on their programs, serve their diverse student bodies, and fulfill their unique missions.

Mission Statement of the Hyde Park Day School: The mission of Hyde Park Day School is to provide students of average-to-superior intelligence with learning disabilities an innovative and comprehensive educational model that will help prepare them for a successful transition to public or private schools in their home community. Mission Statement of the Sonia Shankman Orthogenic School: Continuing nearly a century of tradition, the Sonia Shankman Orthogenic School at the University of Chicago remains committed to providing the highest quality of intensive therapeutic milieu treatment for children and adolescents struggling with severe emotional challenges. The Orthogenic School provides a comfortable and nurturing, family-like residential setting and is staffed by a talented and devoted multidisciplinary team of professionals. The School distinguishes itself by providing highly refined and individualized attention to the unique needs of each of the children who pass through its “Yellow Door” entrance. Working in collaboration with our families, we offer a safe haven and a path to hope as the students move toward becoming happy, productive, and independent young adults.
