Mission Statement
Pui Tak Center was established by the Chinese Christian Union Church to be a Christian witness to Chinese in Chicago through educational, family and community services.
About This Cause
Pui Tak Center is a church-based community center serving immigrants in Chicago's Chinatown. Each year, we serve about 2,500 people through our Adult Education and Training, Children and Youth, and Community programs. Our largest program is our ESL and Citizenship classes for adults. Each year, we serve between 1200 and 1300 adults who want to learn English to get a better job, become a citizen, be involved in their community and help their children in school. Our Adult Education and Training program also offers restaurant sanitation certification and computer classes. Our Children and Youth Programs focus on helping immigrant kids to improve their English skills so that they can succeed in school. In addition to tutoring and homework help, we offer enrichment classes such as Abacus, Chinese language and Lego Robotics. Our Community Program provides information and referral, community service projects and workshops, immigration assistance, outreach to problem gamblers, and assistance to families with disabled children.
