Mission Statement
DuPage Habitat is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International®, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. We work in partnership with individuals, corporate partners and faith based organizations to build up our communities. DuPage Habitat was founded in 1995 by Dick and Florence Nogaj as a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Governed by a local volunteer board of directors, DuPage Habitat lowers homebuilding costs by relying primarily on volunteer time to build and renovate homes, to run many of our critical operations and to provide supportive services to our partner families. In addition, DuPage Habitat participates in the Habitat for Humanity International® "House for a House" program, helping build a home in the Dominican Republic for every home built locally.
About This Cause
Our Vision A world where everyone has a decent place to live. Our Mission Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Serving Our Community We believe that owning a home is major milestone on the road to a family's financial success, and a key component of community's economic stability. Since 1995, DuPage Habitat has sold and repaired homes to over 100 limited-income families, helping over 150 children thrive. At DuPage Habitat, we believe in a hand up rather than a hand out. We offer a hand up by enabling our partner families to achieve the pride of homeownership working side by side with community volunteers to build or repair their home. In fiscal year 2017 alone, DuPage Habitat will serve 2,600 DuPage residents through new construction, rehab construction, home repair and Neighborhood Revitalization efforts. All Are Welcome DuPage Habitat for Humanity has an open-door policy: All who believe that everyone needs a decent, affordable place to live are welcome to help with the work, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, political views or any of the other distinctions that too often divide people. In short, Habitat welcomes volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds and also serves people in need of decent housing regardless of race or religion. As a matter of policy, Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliated organizations do not proselytize. This means that Habitat will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must either adhere to or convert to a particular faith, or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.
