About This Cause
Kindred Family Focus is the largest private, non-profit foster care and adoption agency in the state of Minnesota. Our mission: Strengthen Lives, Families and Communities through our Cornerstone Values (Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Courage, Care & Concern) We believe that changing one life changes everything. In 2015, 846 youth benefited from a variety of services: • Adoption • Foster care • Shelter care • Children's Therapeutic Services and Supports (CTSS) • Crisis Nursery (serving Wright County) • Visitation services Community support plays a critical role in our work: 1) Kindred Cares: a special fund that provides our foster families with financial support that helps them continue fostering children while also providing foster families with the “extras” not covered through government support. Things like activity fees, work uniforms, art classes and more – the things that help youth build self-esteem, team-building skills, social connections and vocational opportunities that are important in all of our lives. 2) Crisis Nursery Serving Wright County: a voluntarily, emergency resource for families in crisis. Donations pay for emergency child care, supplies (diapers, wipes, formula, gas cards) and supportive counseling and referral services that help strengthen families and prevent child abuse. 3) Mission-Critical needs: Community support helps us • launch new initiatives and expand services (like Children’s Therapeutic Services and Supports) to address the growing mental health and safety needs of children and families throughout the state, • increase our recruitment efforts to address the critical need for more foster families in Minnesota, and • ensure a high quality workforce that children and families can rely on in times of crisis and need. Kindred Family Focus is licensed by the State of Minnesota and accredited by the Council on Accreditation and affiliated with Nexus, a nonprofit provider of youth and family solutions.
