Mission Statement

At Jordan River Village, our mission has been unwavering for years: to create a haven for children facing serious illnesses and disabilities, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment from which they can heal and thrive. The profound impact of our commitment to emotional well-being is evident in the lives of over 30,000 children we have touched.

About This Cause

Jordan River Village is located in Israel’s Galilee, yet we accept children from all over the country. Our campers live with variety of serious and chronic illnesses including: cancer, cerebral palsy, crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, cystic fibrosis, epilepsy, familial dysautonomia, heart/cardiovascular diseases, hemophilia, type 1 diabetes, blind and visually impaired, heart, kidney and liver transplants, neurological disorders, autoimmune diseases, rheumatic diseases, severe asthma, trauma victims, burn victims, and other conditions. Each year Jordan River Village welcomes approximately 8,000 campers to their on-campus and off-campus programs. Since being sick doesn’t discriminate, neither does the Village – we accept children between age 9-18 from all over Israel, children of Jewish, Muslim and Christian faiths; children who speak Arabic and those who speak Hebrew; children from poor families and more affluent families, and children who are in wheelchairs and those whose illnesses can’t be seen on the outside. At our on-campus programs, we use many once-in-a-lifetime experiences to reinforce this framework such as: flying down the only fully handicapped accessible zip-line in Israel; swimming and playing in a zero-entry indoor pool; performing on a professional theater stage; and participating in music, photography, and art workshops, riding horses, and so much more. Every camp session is tailored to fit to the participating campers physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities. As a result of Covid, the Village expanded our off-campus programs to meet our campers in their communities. Operating in three children’s hospitals, the Village’s Hospital Outreach Program places 2 full time in-house volunteers in each hospital who bring the camp spirit and programming to pediatric patients.
