Mission Statement
Readington Trail Association (RTA) members work to preserve the rural atmosphere of Readington through establishing and maintaining many miles of beautiful trails throughout the Township. We also work to educate members, the local horse community and emergency responders about equine health, safety, and emergency planning.
About This Cause
RTA was established in 1994. We received our 501c3 status in January 2011 through the umbrella organization, Coalition for Animals. In addition to maintaining existing trails in the township, we seek to form a contiguous trail network while maintaining the agricultural heritage of the land using both open space and private land access granted by private landowners. Our membership spans a diverse spectrum of disciplines from hiking, fox hunting, dressage and driving, to pleasure riding and competitive trail. Horseback riders are both English and Western. As an organization of responsible citizens, we maintain a general liability policy for our members and landowners. Yearly dues is used to pay for insurance, trail maintenance, trail and road signage, public relations, supplies and postage. Through annual donations, we also support Readington's 4 Firehouses, Police, and Rescue Squad as well as other local organizations in need such as Camp Brett Endeavor, Round Valley Youth Center, local horse rescue organizations, NJ Animeals, and more.
