Inspiring positivity, courage, and gratitude in young adult cancer fighters through the gift of outdoor adventure and community.
About This Cause
Send It creates outdoor adventure programs for young adults (ages 21-39) battling cancer. Programs are designed around activities like skiing, surfing, mountain biking, and backpacking; creating a vital community through shared experience. The outdoors provides an opportunity for participants to push their personal limits, and to connect with themselves in ways that have not been available since before diagnosis. Being among peers who have been through a similar experience provides a sense of camaraderie and support that may not be available in their normal lives. This year, 70,000 adolescents and young adults will be diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. Because of their age, they are caught between pediatric and adult oncology - survival rates in this age group have not improved in recent decades. Programs are free of charge for participants and are fully supported by our community of donors, partners, and volunteers.
