About This Cause

Established in 1945 as United Way of Sterling and Rock Falls, the local chapter grew to incorporate all villages and towns in our county and changed its name to United Way of Whiteside County. We provide traditional support to 22 social service agencies, and in addition provide free books through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library county-wide to children ages 0 to 5 (our LIFE program); we provide free summer lunches in our community through the summer (Let's Feed Our Children) as well as a breakfast program for 6 weeks to local summer school children. We fund a free prescription program, fund a 2-1-1 program, while partnering with donors and volunteers to develop and execute many other critical initiatives to effect wide social impact.
