Mission Statement
The Adler Planetarium's mission is to connect people to the universe and each other under the sky we all share.
About This Cause
For over 90 years, the Adler Planetarium has brought astronomy and space exploration to Chicago’s lakeshore. We are a museum, a center for education, and a hub for frontline research. Each year, we connect millions of people to one another and to the wonders of our universe: inside of our historic Art Deco museum building, around our city, or across the world through our digital programs. We believe that science is for everyone. With an eye towards inclusivity and accessibility, the Adler’s programming brings the universe down to Earth for stargazers in Chicago and beyond. Young people in our teen programs can design and build scientific instruments, collect and analyze publication-quality data, and cultivate creativity and scientific thinking. Families can explore far-off exoplanets through interactive exhibitions, or ponder the existence of the multiverse in our sky shows. Even from across the globe, curious minds can contribute to rigorous scientific research through our online Zooniverse program. None of this would be possible without our generous supporters. Each donation to the Adler helps inspire future generations of scientists to look to the sky in wonder and discovery, and for that we are truly grateful.
