Mission Statement

The Springfield Ballet Company provides dance education and performances to enrich our community through the beauty, energy and diversity of dance.

About This Cause

The Springfield Ballet Company was created in 1975 by the merger of two local dance companies, Copper Coin Ballet and Ballet Concert Group. The Company consists of 27 high school and young adult company dancers and 30 middle school trainees; a working, community-based, volunteer, 18-member Board of Directors; and a staff of an Artistic Director, Administrative Director, Ballet Mistress and Costume Mistress. The Springfield Ballet Company exists to prepare talented young dancers for continued careers in dance and to educate, entertain, and provide services to the greater Springfield community. The mission of the SBC is to use the beauty, energy, and diversity of dance to speak to the community and thus encourage freedom of expression, build bridges between generations and cultures, and add to the richness of life in central Illinois. We attempt to fulfill this mission in part by developing and expanding outreach programs that cater to seniors, students, mentally and/or physically challenged persons, and other underserved populations. The Springfield Ballet Company has three primary goals: a) to provide training to the Company members; b) to produce public performances by the Company and guest artists; and c) to provide educational programs in the art of dance.
