Mission Statement
Our mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of youth. We do transitional living, street outreach, drug prevention, crisis intervention, and student support services in McLean and Livingston counties, Illinois. We have annual independent audits, and have received numerous awards for professionalism and our ability to work well with others.
About This Cause
We work with about 6,000 youth and families each year in Central Illinois. We have the only transitional living and street outreach services for homeless youth, providing supported housing, skills-building, individual counseling, and an array of supportive services to help youth permanently end their homelessness. We provide education and survival aid to street-based homeless youth, encouraging them to build skills and find employment that will end their homelessness. We also provide emergency shelter for runaway youth, and provide crisis intervention for over 300 runaway youth annually. Our classroom drug prevention reaches thousands of young students, giving them the information and skills they need to avoid involvement with alcohol and other drugs. School support services include counseling, goal setting, tutoring, and a variety of other aids to keep underachieving students in school. We also lead "Parents Forever" educational classes for divorcing parents, helping them with ways to stay connected to their children during that difficult transition. We have a staff of 20 dedicated individuals, many with advanced degrees and field-specific certifications. We are accountable to our funders, use tested assessment and evaluation tools, maintain confidentiality of our clients and secure our files, and have consistently clean annual independent audits. Our staff have continuing education, we are asked to present workshops at professional conferences around the country, and we give advice on program planning and operations to others, ensuring that we share information that helps youth and families across the nation.
