Mission Statement
For over 125 years United Way has been a unifying force that brings together community leaders, organized labor, faith-based groups, corporations, employees, individuals, nonprofit organizations and governments. Together we work toward a better life and a stronger community in our own backyards.
About This Cause
Southern Illinois communities face problems that have persisted for generations in our region. These are problems no individual or organization can solve on their own. United Way of Southern Illinois works to help individuals and organizations care for the basic needs of our community with a special focus on health, education and financial stability of our community members. We seek solutions that reach beyond single-issue and temporary fixes. We impact the lives of individuals in Southern Illinois daily and aim to create lasting change that lifts up everyone. We do this by acting as a liaison between individuals in need and community resources available to them through our 2-1-1 resource hotline. We fund raise for the purpose of distributing dollars to organizations who request funding for projects large and small. We do this by harnessing the passion of volunteers across 14 counties in Southern Illinois. We mobilize resources, forge unique partnerships and develop modern solutions to longstanding problems.
