About This Cause
Holy Name Retreat Center is a 78 room retreat center on 10 beautiful acres. We have four pillars that hold up our day to day operations: Hispanic programming and retreats, 12-step recovery meetings and retreats, Catholic/Christian meetings and retreats, and hosted programs. We rely solely on retreat, meeting, and other offerings. We excel in hospitality. Our grounds are well kept and very peaceful, they include a labyrinth as well as beautiful statuary. We have four large meeting areas. Our Hispanic program includes training spiritual mentors, this program has trained 200 or so spiritual mentors who each go out and serve the community. Our Hispanic programming has additional classes and retreats helping to widen the knowledge and spirituality of the entire Hispanic community. Our recovery programs are some of the largest in the area with 19 recovery meetings here a week. Meetings include AA, SLAA, GA, Alanon and others. There are 5 recovery weekend retreats held here a year. Our recovery program is a major reason that Holy Name Retreat Center is a 'place where miracles happen." Our Catholic/Christain retreats are the centerpiece of what we do. Nineteen Men's, women's, silent, and couples retreats are offered each year. A yearly theme offers the opportunity for spiritual growth and enrichment. The fourth pillar of our work is hosted programs. We offer hospitality, with a full delicious kitchen, clean rooms, and peaceful grounds and you bring the group. Hosted programs in the past have included many religious orders, Contemporary Christian groups and others wishing to gather in a spiritual environment. Holy Name Retreat Center has been in the Bunker Hill area of Houston since 1947, serving the spiritual need of the local community, the state and from all corners of the Country.
