Mission Statement
We are Brothers And Sisters In Community Service, or BASICS. Our objective is to set up immersion experiences for volunteers and to provide support for the poor and under-served communities including, but not limited to, providing meals and food, building and maintaining facilities that serve the poor and building and maintaining shelters for the poor. Programs to support poor and under-served may include education and training or support for such activities. Our organization has coordinated trips to the San Eugenio community in Tijuana, Mexico for fifteen years. We started by building homes in the community. Then, we added coordinating programs for the local children, teens and mothers during a week of our trip. The children and teen programs include arts & crafts, games, sports, and fun and educational activities. For the mothers we offer a program designed to help them socialize and meet new friends while they enjoy crafts, play games and participate in discussions about health and nutrition. We built six houses in 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic prevented us from making a trip in 2020 and 2021. However, we were able to raise funds which were used to pay construction contacts we have in the San Eugenio community to build a home for one family in 2020 and two families in 2021 in the community. We have had immersion trips to build homes and experience the in the San Eugenio community in 2022 through 2024.
