Mission Statement
The mission of Every Woman’s Place is to strengthen lives in the community by providing shelter, counseling, and advocacy primarily for those affected by domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking.
About This Cause
EWP provides services to all of Muskegon County, and also acts as a backup secure location to sister shelter organizations in neighboring counties when a survivor’s well-being is severely threatened in their home community. Our agency’s main location is at 1221 W. Laketon Ave. in Muskegon where safe shelter, counseling, legal advocacy, and victim advocacy services are available. Additional satellite locations offer victim advocacy and counseling services in Muskegon Heights and the Whitehall-Montague area. EWP has also launched on-campus outreach at Muskegon Community College, and continues to provide legal advocacy at the prosecutor’s office. Domestic Assault Response Team [DART] and Sexual Assault Response Team [SART]: 24-hour Crisis Team will report on-site following recent sexual assault to provide victim advocacy; current on-call staff of seven Domestic and Sexual Violence Crisis Center: Secure, confidential residential safe shelter for survivors of domestic or sexual assault staffed by trained trauma-informed crisis aides Legal Advocacy: Ongoing presence in the justice system to support survivors seeking Personal Protection Orders Non-Residential Advocacy: Our advocates help build a system of support, customizing each client case to ensure health, housing, and employment--and true independence--for DV/SA/ST survivors Permanent Supportive Housing [PSH]: EWP guides survivors in the transition between crisis shelter and permanent housing Safe and Sober Living [SSL]: EWP gives a safe and supportive living environment for survivors breaking free from addiction. Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Counseling: Our DV- and SA-specialized counselors help children, youth, and adults heal from the trauma--from yesterday, or from years ago
