Mission Statement
The Michigan Fly Fishing Club is an organization of fly fishers dedicated to the promotion of fly fishing, the preservation of the arts of fly tying and rod building and the protection of gamefish and their habitat.
About This Cause
The Michigan Fly Fishing Club promotes fly fishing and conservation. The Club continuously educates its Members and the public through various classes, seminars and workshops both individually as a Club and in conjunction with various groups. Our members volunteer their time, materials and even their personal fly fishing gear. We host Club events which focus on the promotion of fly-fishing and conservation including monthly speaker meetings, monthly meetings for casting and fly tying education, a Member School, Trout Tune-Up, and various fly fishing events all at no charge to our Members. Our meetings are open to all and are free of charge. We individually host educational events such as our Member School, Public School, Youth School and Boy Scout Fly Fishing Merit Badge School and work in conjunction with groups to educate and engage the public by volunteering at events such as Project Fish at Outdoor Rama, Ultimate Fishing Show and other events. All of these events are run and staffed by volunteers who donate their time and experience as well as their personal fly tying equipment and materials. The Club raises its majority of funds by operating the Midwest Fly Fishing Show, which is a 100% volunteer run two day Fly Fishing Expo in March. We use the funds generated by the Expo and member donations to fund our Annual Conservation Reserve Fund. The money allocated to the Conservation Reserve Fund is donated on an annual basis to fund various projects around the State of Michigan and sometimes other States which support our mission of promoting fly fishing and protecting gamefish and their habitat.
