Mission Statement
The Autoimmune Association is a national nonprofit, 501(c) (3), voluntary health agency that is committed to meeting the overwhelming need for increased research funding into the cause, prevention, and cure for autoimmune diseases. Our mission is dedicated to the eradication of autoimmune diseases and the alleviation of suffering through fostering and facilitating collaboration in the areas of education, public awareness, research and patient services in an ethical, effective and efficient manner.
About This Cause
The Autoimmune Association (AA), is a 501(c) (3) national health organization that brings a national focus to autoimmunity as a category of disease and promotes a collaborative research effort in order to find better treatments and a cure for all autoimmune diseases. Awareness AA works to raise awareness about autoimmune diseases and their impact on individuals and within families (autoimmune diseases cluster in families). AA established the month of March as National Autoimmune Diseases Awareness Month and continues to present events and projects every March to draw attention to autoimmune diseases. Patient Education AA provides a wide variety of autoimmune disease information to patients via phone, mail, email, webinars, social media, and through other online events. AA also provides information on how to find specialists / doctors; tips for getting a diagnosis; coping strategies. Support Services AA is the founder and facilitator of the National Coalition of Autoimmune Patient Groups (NCAPG) and is a resource for online support groups and co-pay assistance programs. Research AA funds research into autoimmunity as the underlying factor in the majority of serious chronic illnesses. In addition, AA has established the Autoimmune Research Network (ARNet) patient registry, which facilitates patient participation in autoimmune research.
