About This Cause
Vision for the World Children in 2030 will live in a world where poverty and hunger do not exist; peaceful, just, and inclusive societies do; human rights everywhere have been restored and protected, gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls is promoted; and, the lasting protection of our home on the planet and the sustainable use of its natural resources have been assured. Vision for Detroit By the end of 2023 no human being will live without food, water, clothing, and shelter; no person, young or old, who is sick, invalid, or imprisoned, shall be overlooked or deprived of visitation from others; and, every person who dies shall have a proper burial. Detroit becomes a model around the world for a peaceful, just and inclusive society. Vision for Michigan By the end of 2026 the 83 counties of Michigan, through collaborative community based initiatives, will have succeeded in reaching the United Nations 2030 vision making Michigan a model around the world for a peaceful, just and inclusive society. Core Values We value in ourselves and in others a curious heart, a creative imagination, and a healthy self-esteem. Operating with these values together we will create a place we can call home; a home for our heart, our mind, our soul; a place to discover, create, and celebrate; a place where hospitality is graciously given and gratefully received. -Encourage the Curiosity We will encourage the curiosity of children to discover the world within and around them. “Curiosity is the wick in the candle of learning” –William Arthur Ward -Inspire the Imagination We will inspire the imagination of children to be inventive and creative in the world they find themselves in. “Imagination is more important than knowledge” –Albert Einstein -Affirm the Individual We will affirm every child as an individual and support them in expressing their unique gift. “To thine own self be true.” –William Shakespeare Our overall organizational mindset is to be kind and patient.
