Mission Statement
Friends of Bermuda Community Foundation (FBCF) is a public charity that is exempt from Federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to FBCF are deductible under section 170 of the Code. FBCF was formed in August 2014 to collect charitable contributions from American donors and distribute them to other charitable, nonprofit organizations. Individuals, families, businesses and other nonprofit organizations who have an interest in or connection to the country of Bermuda are invited to donate to Friends of Bermuda Community Foundation which will in turn identify and donate to qualified nonprofit organizations in Bermuda.

Specific philanthropic areas that Friends of Bermuda Community Foundation supports include: - Promoting youth achievement and community-based education, extracurricular opportunities, mentoring and development of leadership skills - Supporting artistic and cultural programs - Improving the lives of vulnerable populations including families, seniors and persons with disabilities and others facing isolation, unmet health and social needs - Community development, nonprofit infrastructure and capacity building - Encouraging environmental education and preservation. US donors can work with FBCF to set up donor-advised funds in the Islands of Bermuda. As a prospective grantee of Friends of Bermuda Community Foundation, the Bermuda Community Foundation (BCF) in Bermuda raises funds for non-profits, causes and public institutions, from arts and education to health and community services that serve the Island’s residents. FBCF's relationship with the BCF provides US donors with a simple, convenient and flexible way to make an impact - by providing them with a facility to set up a Donor-Advised fund in Bermuda . BCF enables corporations, individuals and families to establish customized charitable funds without the burden of tax liabilities or administrative tasks such as setting up private foundations, or trusts or distributing grants. Donations are aggregated, invested and managed to achieve greater returns for Bermuda’s civic sector.
