Mission Statement

The Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin (formerly the Rock County Humane Society) is a private nonprofit 501c3 organization whose mission is to provide shelter and humane care to lost and homeless pets, reunite lost pets with their families, promote positive pet adoptions and educate our community in order to inspire compassion and responsible pet guardianship.

About This Cause

The Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin is the non-profit animal shelter serving the Rock County area including the greater Beloit area. The shelter sees annually over 5,000 lost and homeless cats and dogs and does over 2,200 new adoptions each year plus 500 pet-family reunions. In addition to those efforts, the Humane Society also provides no-cost pet food and other assistance to hundreds of Southern Wisconsin families in need. HSSW also provides low-cost and at times no-cost veterinary care to the community. This includes vaccinations, microchips, spay/neuter services, and many other wellness and preventative care options. The Humane Society is not a governmental organization and relies heavily on donations, volunteers, fosters, and adopters to continue to meet the very real needs of both the pets and the people of our community. The mission is simple – Helping pets go home again.
