Mission Statement
United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley serves both Eau Claire and Chippewa counties in northwestern Wisconsin. Our goal is to build a stronger Chippewa Valley by fixing some of the root causes of problems in our communities. We want to help those in need to no longer need help.
About This Cause
United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley is working to fix problems in three main areas: Education, Income and Health. We are working with our volunteers and donors to prevent problems from happening in the future. Instead of providing more shelters, we're working to help families stay financially stable and in their own homes. Instead of trying to get high school dropouts back up to speed, we're working to ensure children are prepared for kindergarten and successful in school from day one. Instead of treating symptoms of preventable, chronic disease in our community, we're helping community members change their lifestyles to reduce their risks of developing those chronic diseases. Our goals are big, but straightforward: 1. All children are prepared for success in school, 2. Families are financially stable and able to support themselves, 3. All Chippewa Valley residents have access to the care and education they need to live healthy, productive lives. We have recruited some of our area's experts to help lead our efforts in Education, Income and Health. These volunteers help determine our strategies, and are also helping review results and adjust our work to be as effective as possible. We provide program funding to a number of local partners to provide the help needed to achieve our goals. Our efforts are collaborative, inclusive, and are focused on helping the most people possible with the dollars we raise. While we're primarily focused on long-term prevention and reduction of need in our community, we also know that we have people with immediate needs. Currently, 25% of the funds we raise are used to help meet basic needs for those who are struggling right now. We use this portion of donations to provide food, shelter, and clothing to community members. United Way's role is more than just raising funds, it's about bringing our businesses, donors, nonprofits, local governments, and the rest of the community together to find solutions to some of our most pressing issues. A gift to United Way goes far beyond providing a meal or a night in a shelter. A gift to United Way is an investment in a stronger Chippewa Valley.
