Mission Statement
The mission of the Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin is to improve the lives of all affected by Autism. We serve as the primary Autism/Asperger Syndrome/PDD resource for Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, Kenosha, Dodge, Jefferson, Ozaukee, Walworth and Washington counties.
About This Cause
The Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin supports people with Autism Spectrum Disorders, their families, professionals and others by sharing information, supporting research, providing networking opportunities and promoting awareness through education and training. We strive to increase public awareness about the day-to-day issues faced by people on the spectrum, advocating for appropriate services for individuals (both as children and adults). Some of the programs and services we provide are: Information and Referral services - information provided to parents, professionals and the public about Autism, PDD-NOS, and Asperger Syndrome. Workshops, Presentations, Parent-to-Parent Forums - educational opportunities on current topics relevant to the needs of our community. Monthly Support Groups - allowing attendees to connect with others and share information and experiences for parents and for adults that are on the Autism Spectrum. "New to Autism" Program - informational session to help families when their loved one has been diagnosed to provide them support and direction for services. Teens With Asperger Syndrome Social Events - facilitated community outings to help teens build confidence, make friends and learn social skills. Summer Bike Program - fantastic program to help children with disabilities learn to ride a two-wheel bike independently. TRAILS - (Transition for Raising Autism Independence & Living Skills) is a yearly series of 4-7 workshops assisting parents of teens plan for adulthood. Social Gatherings - fun family events at places around the Metropolitan Milwaukee area to provide social enjoyment, networking, and community experiences with supportive, understanding people.
