Mission Statement
Northeast Wisconsin's first and only non-profit provider of hospice and palliative care. Care is provided regardless of ability to pay.
About This Cause
Unity, a not for profit 501 (c) 3, was founded in 1977 as Wisconsin’s first hospice program and the country’s third. Unity is also home to Wisconsin’s first non-hospital-based palliative program and has the region’s only hospice residence located on its campus in De Pere. Unity was created through a financial and resource partnership of Green Bay’s three not-for-profit hospitals, Bellin Health, St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center and St. Vincent Hospital, and operates financially independent of these partner hospitals. Unity does not receive financial support from these founding hospitals, but relies on community support, grants and private foundation funding sources. Unity serves people through hospice care, palliative care and bereavement care in 13 counties throughout Northeast Wisconsin and has satellite offices in Marinette, Shawano and Sturgeon Bay. As Northeast Wisconsin’s largest and longest standing not-for-profit leader in hospice and palliative care, Unity continually seeks ways to increase access, improve care and provide more care options for patients and families. Unity is committed to ensuring access to all for end of life care, regardless of financial status. We strive to live our mission each day to bring the best end of life experience to our communities by delivering unwavering strength, compassion and support. Unity offers routine skilled nursing visits, 24-hour skilled nursing phone support, social worker visits for emotional and psychosocial support and connection to resources, certified nursing assistant visits to assist with personal cares, chaplain visits to offer spiritual support and trained volunteers to provide companionship, caregiver respite and transport assistance.
