Mission Statement

Mission Statement: Supplementing nutritional needs, free of charge, for the economically distressed within our local communities.

About This Cause

St. Joseph Food Program is known for its Food Pantry component, which presently serves 1,242 families each week at locations in Menasha, and with alliances in Dale, Seymour & Kaukauna. Our mission is “Supplementing nutritional needs free of charge for the economically distressed within our local communities”. This means also serving individuals and families outside the doors of SJFP. In order accomplish the need outside the doors of our program; we reach out to individuals with food needs that are not being addressed with normal food pantry operations via other area programs and pantries. These Programs and pantries are able to request specific items. There is no cost to the programs and pantries who receive our assistance. Each week these programs and pantries receive milk, eggs, fresh produce, (often locally grown because of our Grow a Row for St. Joe’s program), staple items and occasionally meat. The Outreach operation consists of three primary components: Summary: 1. Agency & Meal Sites: This program provides nutrition for individuals at agencies such as COTS, Harbor House, and Warming Shelter. In addition, support is provided for meal sites such as Loaves & Fishes Appleton, Thompson Community, and Sunday Suppers. 2. Backpack Program: This program provides food to school age children who have been identified by school counselors to have limited or no nutrition available to them on Weekends during the school year. Currently 23-schools are participating in this program, serving 359 students each week during the school year. 3. Pantry Alliance: Our pantry alliance have been established as an extension of our outreach and as a way to standardize, localize and make the service of providing food to those who qualify more efficient. St. Joseph Food Program is free and local. Because of our long standing relationship with this community, area programs and pantries, we understand the challenges they face; it is this understanding that our alliance pantries attach value. This collaborative relationship benefits our community.
