Mission Statement
Our mission: We are a voice for the hungry by harvesting community resources to alleviate hunger.
About This Cause
The Hunger Task Force runs three programs: Food Recovery, The Kane Street Community Garden and the Senior Stockbox Program. The Food Recovery program food collects and distributes over 2,500,000 pounds of food each year to area food pantries and free meal sites. Food is redistributed to over 114 partner programs in seven counties. The Kane Street Community Garden grows nearly 30,000 pounds of fresh produce each gardening season in its community garden. The garden has operated continuously since the summer of 1998. The food is distributed free to the public at the garden on “harvest” nights and through the food pantry and free meal site network of the Food Recovery Program. The Senior Stockbox Program provides a monthly box of stable food items to eligible seniors in La Crosse, Vernon, and Trempealeau Counties.
