About This Cause
Today more than ever, young people are faced with tremendous obstacles. In Green Bay, generational poverty and corresponding opportunity gaps place our community’s youth at a higher risk of negative outcomes. In addition to poverty, many kids are up against family and community risk factors – such as a lack of positive role models, exposure to traumatic experiences, crime, and more. When confronted with multiple risk factors, a young person is more likely to drop out of school and be unemployed, have poor health, rely on public assistance, become a teenage parent, become incarcerated, and miss out on participating in society’s civic institutions. In response, the Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay offers targeted programs to keep young people on track to graduate with a plan in place for a productive future. The benefits of Club membership extend beyond the immediate impact on participating youth, with a return on investment to the community of $9.60 for every $1 invested in Club. The aim of the Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay is to assure success is within reach of every young person who walks through our doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school, prepared to continue on a pathway to college, a career, or military service. Serving more than 3,000 youth per year, our two Clubhouses and multiple school-based sites deliver daily programs that meet the needs of young people during times of day when youth are the least supervised and most vulnerable. Special efforts are made to serve the young people who need us most. To ensure that a child’s financial circumstances are never a barrier, membership costs only $10. A Boys & Girls Club membership grants every child access to core programs that support youth in achieving academic success, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and leading a healthy lifestyle. Foundational programs provide basic, targeted, and intensive supports to youth through social emotional learning, the arts, mentoring, and workforce readiness training. For over five decades, the Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay has been the foremost advocate on youth development in the local community. Our organization has achieved a record of success in delivering nationally significant, award-winning programming with a demonstrated ability to transform the lives of the young people most in need as a result of quality staff, facilities, and programs supported by financial stability and clearly defined standards. Our commitment to continuous improvement includes a year round evaluation strategy implemented by a staff assessment team that is dedicated to continuous improvement. The Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay's progress in achieving our stated aim of helping youth achieve their full potential by pursuit of pathways to college, careers, and ultimately self-sufficiency as productive and contributing adults is measured by a series of performance metrics. Our progress indicators include basic youth engagement and optimal Club Experience measures, along with a framework of advanced outcomes focusing on academic motivation and school performance, workforce readiness, health and wellness behaviors, and community engagement.
