Mission Statement
MetroHope Recovery Ministries is a 501(c)3 organization based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. MetroHope opened in 1926 as a rescue mission that provided a gospel service, a meal and a sleeping mat for men. In the 1930s it expanded and became the first residential program for alcoholics in the upper Midwest. Our Mission Statement says, “We are a restorative recovery ministry providing real help and lasting hope in a grace-filled environment through Jesus Christ.” Our Purpose Statement says, “We provide separate Christ-centered long term residential ministries for men and women with children who are seeking freedom from the shackles of addiction. These mentored programs emphasize a unique restorative process that cleanses the body, clears the mind, changes the heart and saves the soul.”
About This Cause
MetroHope’s program for men, called New Hope Center, serves up to 53 in a 5-7 month program. The environment of this facility is intentionally personal and men can progress through the program at their own pace. Phases of this program are Assessment, Healing, Equipping, Finishing and Transitioning. MetroHope values the influence that men have on their families and society, so it focuses its programming on freedom from addiction, the path to purity, healing from past hurts, developing character, Bible study, smoking cessation support and more. New Hope Center boasts weekly individualized Case Management, 24/7 on-site staff, nursing assistance, help with transportation and a Christian 12-step group as part of the aftercare program. Healing House, MetroHope’s program for women, opened in 2006 and serves up to 20 mothers and 24 children in a 9-18 month program. Comprehensive case management specializes in helping to advance the process of reunification for women on Probation/Parole or who have an open Child Protection Services case. Programming includes Biblical parenting classes, on-site individual, group and family therapy, weekly Christian 12-step group, and core classes focusing on issues of addiction, codependency, self-worth, healing damaged emotions, Bible study and more. Healing House also provides assistance with transportation and on-call medical services as well as 24/7 on-site staff that help mothers with appropriate discipline, meal time and bed time routines and age-appropriate activities with children. In Spring 2014, MetroHope opened virtual thrift stores called FOUND! These Amazon, Ebay and Etsy shops are the revenue-generating program of our ministry, along with our wholesale program, R.O.C.K. and Cell Out For Recovery. The wholesale program allows us to partner with area churches and nonprofits to have campaigns to bring in clothing and household items and split the profits. Cell Out For Recovery is a similar campaign, but requests that supporters donate their unused cell phones, iPods and iPads. We also partner with Caring Corporations for these programs, but they generously donate all proceeds back to our nonprofit. The name FOUND reflects the redeemed items for sale as well as the residents in our programs who "once were lost but now are found."
