Mission Statement
The Urban League Twin Cities (ULTC) envisions a future in which African descendants are fully engaged, empowered and invested in the success and well-being of the Twin Cities metro area. Founded in 1925, ULTC (formerly Minneapolis Urban League) has for 97 years served as a relentless and unapologetic advocate for equity, justice and power for African descendants in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. We help people secure and sustain meaningful employment, live healthier lives, advance educational goals for themselves and their children, and build wealth that can be passed down from generation to generation.
About This Cause
For more than nine decades, the Urban League has confronted inequalities and redefined civil rights by focusing on economic empowerment as a key driver of social change for the African American community. Our initiatives train and connect people to employment opportunities, raise public awareness of social injustice, and promote efforts to strengthen the economic vitality and prosperity in our cities' poorest communities. The Urban League has a vital role as advocate and thought leaders for issues affecting African descendants in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. We believe an equitable society can be realized. We envision a future in which African descendants are fully engaged, empowered and invested in the success and well-being of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. With public and private support from donors committed to our mission and who believe in the impact of our innovative programs, the Urban League can continue to unlock opportunities that empower people to thrive across all racial, social and economic levels.
