Mission Statement

Empower people with physical and invisible barriers to achieve their potential.

About This Cause

In 1954, UCP of Central MN (UCP-CM) was started by a group of parents who wanted an education for their children who had Cerebral Palsy (CP), and they wanted to support for each other. Through the years society has changed and children with CP are able to attend school. ConnectAbility of MN has evolved to ensure that all persons living with a disability can be connected to the services that will allow them to achieve their potential. We do this by providing information and support through programs and services to individuals and families affected physical or invisible barriers. In 2020, we move forward again and changed our name to ConnectAbility of MN and expanded our Vision and Mission to include all people with any disability or low-income seniors in Minnesota. ConnectAbility of MN is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that serves individuals with disabilities and their families in Minnesota. ConnectAbility of MN is supported by contributions from individuals, corporations, special events and state funding. About 90% of the funding that we receive goes directly to programs and services. ConnectAbility of MN meets the standards of charitable giving through the Minnesota Charities Review Council. The balance goes to support administrative costs. ConnectAbility of MN is guided by a volunteer board of directors that represents the concerns and diversity of our community. We promote accessible and affordable transportation, Environmental Accessibility (home modifications), chore services, services to ensure people can stay in their home safely, and community based programs, this allows people with disabilities to live a more self-directed life.
