About This Cause
About the Hennepin Health Foundation The Hennepin Health Foundation exists to serve your interests in supporting the hospital and clinics of Hennepin Healthcare System, Inc. This charitable work started fifty years ago by a volunteer based Service League at Hennepin County Medical Center. In 2009 this dedicated group dissolved in order to establish a professional 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization to increase the capacity to attract philanthropic support and serve more patients and families. Hennepin County Medical Center and our eight primary care clinics serve over 154,000 patients each year. Your support can strengthen the patient and family experience, as well as, impact the health and well-being of our whole community. We invite you to partner with us. Comfort and Community Health With 154,000 lives seeking care each year through our hospital and clinics, every gift can make a significant impact in removing barriers to healthcare access and providing comfort during times of uncertainty. Donations for comfort and community health allow the Foundation to answer a variety of urgent needs of our patient population, remove barriers to healthcare access, and launch innovations to spur improvements in population health. Innovative Medical Education We train the doctors and nurses who make you healthy. We educate the therapists who guide your recovery. We instruct the pharmacists who dispense your medicine. We develop the researchers who offer you innovation. We teach the first responders who save your life. Since 1893 when HCMC established the first nursing school in Minnesota, our education and training programs have been preparing medical professionals to serve in the hospitals, clinics and communities across our state and nation. Over half of all physicians in Minnesota received training at HCMC. In addition, 20,000 other professionals access our healthcare courses each year, including local fire and police departments. Donations for innovation in medical education allow the Foundation to enhance our capacity to support medical student education, residency and fellowship programs, nursing advancement, allied health profession education, educational research, and emergency medical services training. Each year, 300 resident physicians, 90 medical students in clinical rotations, 900 nursing students, and more than 5,000 other students in a wide array of fields complement physicians and other professionals who serve patients in our hospital and clinics. Research and Progress Since 1952, The Minneapolis Medical Research Foundation has provided a home where physicians at Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) can study diseases they see in their patients and develop new treatments to improve their care. Today, over 200 practicing physicians and medical professionals actively investigate the causes and treatments of disease. Insights provided by their research look to lessen the impact of today’s health problems including: diabetes, addiction, heart disease, HIV/Aids, traumatic brain injury, and Alzheimer’s. Your support can advance the success of exciting discoveries in the field of medicine. If you have interest in medical research, please contact the Minneapolis Medical Research Foundation.
