Mission Statement

We build communities free from violence by providing holistic healing for every member of the family.

About This Cause

DAP promotes safe and healthy family relationships by stopping domestic violence as it occurs and working to prevent it in the future. To achieve this mission, we provide counseling, education, case management, and crisis intervention to families affected by domestic abuse to give them the tools to transform their lives. We also work to strengthen our community’s response to domestic violence by educating and influencing public policy makers and community members. Overall, DAP’s goal is to end the intergenerational cycle of violence by serving the whole family and addressing each members’ individual needs. Through the Men’s Program DAP assists perpetrators of abuse to identify their abusive behavior, and to put into practice new, healthy strategies for addressing stress and conflict in relationships. Through the Women’s Program DAP supports victim/survivors of abuse in order to reduce the trauma symptoms associated with experiencing domestic abuse, and help women gain self-sufficiency. Through the Youth Program, DAP creates a safe space where children learn that abuse is not their fault and they are not alone, to reduce trauma symptoms, and mitigate the risk of these children experiencing abuse or becoming a perpetrator in their future. The goal of the Advocacy Program is to assist domestic abuse victim/survivors in navigating the complicated legal and social service system during times of crisis in order to find safety. Finally, in our Case Management program our goal is to reduce the barriers clients face to long-term stability, such as employment, housing, and childcare.
