Mission Statement
Nexus is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization providing treatment and resources for youth and families struggling with behavioral and mental health concerns. Mission: Strengthening Lives, Families, and Communities Through Our Cornerstone Values. Programs are accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Children and Family Services (COA) and licensed by the state agencies that review them. Nexus and its subsidiaries Gerard Treatment Programs and Kindred Family Focus provide services in Minnesota and Illinois; Nexus affiliate Woodbourne Center operates in Maryland.
About This Cause
Nexus is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization operating operates four residential mental and behavioral health treatment facilities in Minnesota and Illinois: Mille Lacs Academy (Onamia, MN) serves boys age 10-19; Nexus Glen Lake (Minnetonka, MN) serves girls age 14-19, Indian Oaks Academy (Manteno, IL) serves boys and girls age 12-21, and Onarga Academy (Onarga, IL) serves boys age 11-21. Nexus began as a single program more than 40 years ago. Today the Nexus Family of Youth and Family Solutions serves over 2,000 youth and families annual through a wide array of services for children and families through programs operated by Nexus and its nonprofit subsidiaries and affiliates. Gerard Academy (Austin, MN) offers residential treatment for youth ages 6-18 as well as outpatient mental health services and is operated by Gerard Treatment Program, LLC, a Minnesota limited liability company, and a nonprofit subsidiary of Nexus. Kindred Family Focus is a Minnesota nonprofit subsidiary of Nexus that provides adoption services, foster care and community-based support services for children and families throughout Minnesota. Woodbourne Center, Inc., a Maryland nonprofit corporation and nonprofit affiliate of Nexus, offers residential treatment and other support for boys ages 12-18 in Baltimore, Maryland. While these programs are operated by separate and distinct legal entities, they share an underlying adherence to the Nexus Cornerstone Values and Guiding Principles, and enjoy the efficiency and economy of coordinated management functions.
