About This Cause
We operate all programs based on these values: We welcome people in need and, without judgment, serve them in the least intrusive way possible. Damiano promotes respect for all people in our workplace practices and in our service to individuals. We strive to meet the needs of the people we serve by getting to know them personally and responding to their changing needs. Damiano is an excellent steward of resources. We demonstrate honesty, integrity and accountability in the use of resources and in all relationships, dealings and transactions. The Community Kitchen (formerly Soup Kitchen) was the Damiano Center's founding program, beginning in March 1982. This is currently the largest on-site meal program in Northeastern Minnesota, serving thirteen meals each week. No questions are asked of the people who come for a meal, and everyone is welcome to eat until they are satisfied. In addition we make available day old bakery products for people to take home.
