About This Cause
This letter serves to verify information on some of the mission programs, campaigns and funds within the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). The ELCA World Hunger (may also be called ELCA World Hunger and Disaster Appeal), ELCA Malaria Campaign, Lutheran Disaster Response, Lutheran Disaster Response, U.S. and the Lutheran Disaster Response, International are all active program, campaign and funds of the ELCA. Descriptions of the above-mentioned program, campaign and funds are as follows: • ELCA World Hunger – comprehensive and sustainable program that addresses the root causes of hunger and poverty. ELCA World Hunger funds development, relief, education and advocacy projects around the corner and around the world. ELCA World Hunger is a program of the ELCA. ELCA Malaria Campaign – The ELCA Malaria Campaign funds programs in African communities to provide care and preventive interventions related to malaria. Distribution of resources is currently slated for 12 nations in Africa. The ELCA Malaria Campaign has committed to raise $15 million. The ELCA Malaria Campaign is a campaign of the ELCA. • Lutheran Disaster Response (formerly ELCA Disaster Response) provides immediate and effective short-term and long-term support to communities affected by disasters and in times of crisis. Gifts may be designated for the full scope of work in our general fund as Lutheran Disaster Response; for work only in the U. S. as Lutheran Disaster Response, U.S.; for only International work as Lutheran Disaster Response, International; or for response to specific major disasters after they occur. Lutheran Disaster Response operates cooperatively with other disaster and relief agencies and is a program of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
