Mission Statement

Our Mission and Commitment: Through working with communities to provide innovative programs, family education and intervention; we are dedicated to keeping all children safe. The Family Enhancement Center believes in honoring the family in the healing process, yet first and foremost is an advocate for the safety and well-being of the child.

About This Cause

Childhood is both precious and brief; child abuse shatters a childhood and its effect is damaging for a child, the family and our community. Children suffer immediate emotional and physical health issues and the repercussions of abuse linger throughout adolescence and into adulthood. No child should have to experience abuse. The goal of the Family Enhancement Center is to prevent child abuse and to promote healing among children who have experienced abuse. Our approach is holistic. Our philosophy: healing takes place with the involvement and support of the whole family. We don’t just treat a child or a parent — we include the entire family in the healing experience. We strive to build strong children, strong families and support communities to create a society where children are safe, respected and valued. Child abuse robs children of their childhood—we help give it back. Our services include: expert crisis response, assessment, support, and therapy for children and families who have experienced child abuse or are at risk for abuse including: - Individual and Family Therapy - Family Foundations, in-home parent services designed to build healthy parenting skills and avoid abusive patterns - Solid Starts, prevention program that provides support and mentoring to parents during pregnancy - Families Moving Forward, group therapy program designed for children who have been sexually abused and their non-offending parents - Healing Motion, group based therapy that incorporates mind-body techniques such as mindfulness practices, movement based therapies and art expression, for girls 10-18 who have experienced sexual abuse -Drumbeat, an innovative program using group drumming to give boys who have experienced trauma an environment for self expression.
