Mission Statement
Peace House Community (PHC) nourishes its members’ bodies and souls by providing a safe space for everyone. PHC enriches the lives of its members, volunteers and students by offering a place to belong for everyone who comes through its doors.
About This Cause
Peace House Community provides a safe, welcoming, and affirming space for everyone who comes through our doors. We are a community center serving adults who face economic uncertainty, unstable housing, loneliness, and stigmatization each day. Our focus is on providing friendship and belonging to those on the fringes of society who may not have anyone they can rely on. We ensure that each individual who comes to PHC feels valued. We get to know our members by name and ask them about their lives, showing through our concern that we are glad they have come to us. PHC does not ask invasive questions or make anyone justify why they want be in our building; we simply offer them a cup of coffee, a place to sit, and a conversation. We are the neighborhood coffee shop for those who can't afford a coffee. Our volunteers provide haircuts, manicures, hand massages, bicycle repairs, and more. We give out hygiene and other supplies as we have them.
