Mission Statement
As a nonprofit organization founded in 1999, Watercourse Counseling Center is dedicated to centering, cultivating and valuing our communities. To advance our mission, we: center community needs in the delivery of high quality, accessible mental health programming; cultivate a mental health workforce that is strengths-based, equity-focused and community-responsive; and value the strengths and wisdom of individuals and communities.
About This Cause
Watercourse has an office in South Minneapolis along with on-site school-based therapists within 16 Minneapolis Public Schools to assist students as they navigate life. Watercourse provides community-based, affordable, and accessible services to individuals, families, couples, and groups for both adults and children. Staff is culturally sensitive, respectful, and works hard to ensure the services are collaborative, empowering, and healing. Watercourse therapists often work with general mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, life transitions, grief and loss, self-care, self-esteem and stress management. They also help clients with trauma, impulse control, parenting and healthy development, relationships, sexuality and sexual orientation, identity, and spiritual connection. Watercourse's school-based mental health programs reach a significant number of low-income, ethnically diverse students, including immigrant and refugee children.
