Mission Statement
Vipassana Meditation as taught by S.N. Goenka in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin
About This Cause
Vipassana, which means to see things as they really are, is one of India’s most ancient techniques of meditation. It was taught in India more than 2500 years ago as a universal remedy for universal ills, i.e., an Art of Living. The Minnesota Vipassana Association (MVA) was formed in 1986 to bring the benefits of Vipassana meditation to the midwest. Over the years, the MVA has offered two to three full ten-day courses, as well as a children’s course and other short courses at various sites. In July of 2013, the MVA Board of Trustees purchased land and buildings in Menomonie, Wisconsin to build a permanent meditation center for the area and to offer more courses throughout the year.
