Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide the quickest access to financial support for Minnesota breast cancer patients undergoing treatment. Our priorities are to relieve immediate financial burdens so that patients can focus on their healing in their current living environments…in their homes, keeping the home warm and the lights on; helping them get to treatment by paying for childcare and transportation; helping them heal by providing access to nutritious meals for them and their families.
About This Cause
Hope Chest for Breast Cancer provides the quickest access to help with the most urgent financial needs of Minnesota breast cancer patients. Through a web-based portal, Hope Chest GO, local breast cancer patients complete applications for financial support grants to help them pay for their non-medical treatment expenses. Hope Chest provides for emergency needs – mortgage or rent payments, phone and utility bills, transportation, food, etc. -- on the spot so patients can worry less about day-to-day needs and focus on healing. Through Hope Chest GO, approval can happen as quickly as the same day of submission and payments are made directly to the specified service providers. To date, Hope Chest for Breast Cancer foundation has awarded over $2 million in financial support to over 5,200 cancer patients. Over 78% of our grant recipients are unemployed or on unpaid leave and too often in dire financial situations. Hope Chest is a highly efficient organization, prioritizing the funding made available to our patients. As such, over 88% of every dollar raised goes to Hope Chest Go and other critical programming to support Minnesota breast cancer patients undergoing treatment. Hope Chest currently serves breast cancer patients undergoing treatment at the many wonderful healthcare organizations including: Abbott Northwestern Hospital’s Virginia Piper Cancer Institute, Park Nicollet Frauenshuh Cancer Center, Jane Brattain Breast Center, Hennepin Healthcare, Mayo Clinic, Regions Hospital, Ridgeview Medical Center, MN Oncology, University of Minnesota’s Masonic Cancer Center, and informally with individuals who host events that raise money to assist in fulfilling our mission.
