Mission Statement
Dignity Freedom Network is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity that stands with the most marginalized and vulnerable people in South Asia to offer dignity and freedom by providing education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and trafficking prevention. Our work is primarily in India serving vulnerable and marginalized people who are often used without consequence. They are raped, held captive in brothels and temple ceremonies, and forced to work as bonded laborers. They are usually without education, without economic opportunities, without healthcare, without hope for their future. We work in large cities and in rural villages, with young children and new moms. With broken women and fractured families. We work with great hope and fierce intentionality that every human is worth fighting for.
About This Cause
We are a team of dedicated individuals and local churches that support our partner in India who actually carries out our holistic community development programs. In the United States, we are led by both a national director and a volunteer board of directors. Globally, DFN is led by Bishop Joseph D’souza, a world renowned civil rights advocate. Working our team in Indian, we bring dignity and freedom through: 1.Education that Empowers: 107 English-medium schools with over 26,000 children. 2. Trafficking Prevention and Rescue: Currently, we have 3 shelters full of young girls at risk of being trafficked and young women who have been rescued. In 2020, we will open a 150-bed shelter to serve even more women and children. 3. Economic Empowerment: We offer self-help groups, micro grant programs, teacher training institutes, tailoring schools, and cosmetology certificates. These programs give people life skills to support themselves and their families. 4. Healthcare the Heals: Through our network of full-service clinics, micro-clinics, and community health workers, we provide access to healthcare for those who live in the margins of society.
