About This Cause
United Way of Story County (UWSC), located in Ames, Iowa, strives to improve the quality of life for people in Story County. UWSC is a member of United Ways of Iowa (state-wide organization) and United Way Worldwide. UWSC funds vital core programs of 31 human service partners on a monthly basis. Funding is done through the ASSET process in collaboration with Story County, City of Ames, and the Government of the Student Body at Iowa State University to be sure that needs are met without duplication of services. Funding is also made possible through a grants program that provides for underfunded and emerging needs in the county.
