Mission Statement
Four Oaks assures children become successful adults.
About This Cause
The Four Oaks mission is to assure children become successful adults. Four Oaks focuses on empowering children and families to achieve stability, self-sufficiency and permanency. The agency is committed to three guiding principles: 1) advocacy for success 2) accountability for outcomes 3) clear and balanced governance. Four Oaks demonstrates those principles and values through daily resolve, as it works with neglected and abused children. Four Oaks began in 1973 as a home for 10 at-risk boys referred by the Department of Human Services and Juvenile Court Services. Over the next several decades, Four Oaks expanded to support children and families through residential treatment, prevention and community and school-based programs across the state of Iowa. Today, Four Oaks and its affiliates serve more than 27,000 children and families each year across 20 sites. Four Oaks serves children and families who are at-risk and in crisis throughout Iowa. These children and families have challenges surrounding: poverty, housing, education, employment, mental health, family/community support, abuse and neglect. Four Oaks’ core services focus on child welfare, juvenile justice and behavioral health. Our programming lies within six categories: prevention, community and school-based programs, foster care, adoption, residential treatment and emergency shelters.
